DUBAI – Decision-making, education and child marriage are on the agenda as Expo 2020 Dubai marks International Day of the Girl tomorrow (11 October).
Panellists will discuss key issues at the We Can! Girls’ Voices for Girls’ Empowerment event in the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2020, hosted by international charity Save the Children, in collaboration with Cartier, from 1100-1300 GST.
Led by teenagers from Egypt and Lebanon, and using a mix of storytelling, poetry, puppetry and ‘artivism’ (art+activism), the talks will focus on the need to address the challenges girls face and promote their empowerment.
Moderator Heba Al Emara; Hind Al Owais, Senior Vice President of Participants Management, Expo 2020 Dubai; and Gwen Hines, CEO of Save the Children UK, will offer introductory remarks.
A message from Nouneh Sarkissian, First Lady of Armenia, will also be played during proceedings.
