DUBAI – His Excellency Major-General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and Chairman of the Taqdeer Award, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, paid tribute to the workforce responsible for building the first World Expo held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MENASA) region during a visit to the Expo 2020 Workers’ Monument, located on the main walkway of the Jubiliee Park.
HE Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, said: “The Workers’ Monument is a fitting tribute to the dedication of the thousands of workers from around the world who have played an integral part in turning Dubai’s vision for Expo 2020 into reality. Through their commitment and incredible work, their names have now become part of our nation’s proud history.
“At the heart of the Taqdeer Award is a belief in the importance of recognising the vital contribution of Dubai’s workforce to incredible projects such as the Expo, and each and every one of them deserves our gratitude and respect.”
HE Obaid Muhair bin Suroor’s visit comes ahead of Expo’s special edition of the Taqdeer Award, which will take place later this month. Expo’s edition will recognise companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in implementing and upholding worker welfare standards during the construction and delivery of Expo 2020 Dubai.
