“There was something about tonight… something very special.” Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, also known as Vishal & Shekhar, had the audience at Jubilee Park singing along to the lyrics of one of their most popular hits, Disco Deewane, on Monday evening (7 March).
In front of a capacity crowd, the composer, production, singing and songwriting pair encouraged revellers to throw their hands up in the air as they got into the groove, with their fusion of EDM, pop, hip-hop, and Indian-western sounds – with a side of rock and trance.
The Mumbai duo, who have been streamed more than three billion times on YouTube and have recorded more than 70 No. 1 singles, also treated the audience to a selection of their most recent songs, Bharat, War and Baaghi 3.
Known for their work in Bollywood, as well as with international artists including The Vamps, Imogen Heap and Diplo, the singers both sported black sunglasses, perhaps to counter Vishal’s fluorescent orange jacket, which proved a blindingly bright wardrobe choice.
