An impressive line-up of young talent thrilled a packed audience at the Jubilee Stage on Wednesday (23 March) for The Land of Colours concert, part of Pakistan’s Expo 2020 Dubai National Day celebrations.
The performance kicked off with young singers from Surtal Academy warming up the stage with patriotic songs, followed by an energetic performance by rock band Bayaan – the winners of the Pepsi Battle of the Bands in 2018, they released debut album Suno in 2020.
Haroon and Sharoon, popularly known as Leo Twins, wowed the audience with their instrumental mastery, playing popular scores and collaborations to the delight of the audience.
Sets from rappers Hassan Raheem and Young Stunners showcased their respective Pakistani takes on hip-hop, infusing an energetic vibe, before multiple-award-winning singer Aima Baig took to the stage amid thunderous applause and belted out popular tracks such as Baazi, Mast Malang and Laal Meri from Coke Studio.
Singer, songwriter and musician Asim Azhar provided a fitting finale to the evening with his chart-toppers and soulful hits, also joined onstage by Baig. The fourth Pakistani artist to hit 100 million views on YouTube, with his song Jo Tu Na Mila, Azhar has a huge following at home and abroad.
The event also showcased a short documentary film of Pakistan’s breath-taking landscapes and natural beauty, shot especially for Pakistan’s Expo 2020 Dubai National Day celebrations.
