The Palestinian Health Ministry says the the reporter died while covering an Israel raid in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin early Wednesday.
He said Shireen Abu Akleh, a well-known Palestinian journalist for an Arabic-language TV channel, was shot and died shortly afterwards. Another Palestinian journalist working for Jerusalem-based newspaper AlQuds was injured but in stable condition.
The Ministry of Health said Israeli bullets hit journalists. The Army did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Israel has carried out near-daily raids in the occupied West Bank in recent weeks amid a series of deadly attacks inside Israel, many of them carried out by Palestinians from in and around Jenin. The town, and particularly its refugee camp, has long been known as a militant bastion.
