The coastal fire continued to spread, causing damage to several homes in Southern California.
According to Orange Country Fire Authority, around 20 houses burned down in Laguna Niguel, and the fire reached about 20 acres which caused severe damage to the people of that nation.
Strong winds were blowing embers into the attics of homes, making it difficult for firefighters to douse the fires, jumping from house to house within the neighbourhood, which is full of multimillion-dollar homes.
According to Fennessy, the fire broke out immediately and spread over steep terrain, making entry difficult. Because fuel beds in the West are so dry, blazing fires like coastal fires will “become more prevalent,” he warned, adding that when winds mix with dry fuel, “the fire will be on us,” which is a multi-million dollar fire.
Laguna Niguel is south of Laguna Beach and about 25 miles down the coast from Huntington Beach.
