New Delhi: Around 20 people died, and 12 were injured after a massive fire broke out in Mundaka Metro Station in West Delhi on Sunday evening.
Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain said that 27 bodies had been recovered so far.
Fire fighting operation has been concluded, but the rescue operation continues; it will take time given the vastness of the area – said Sunil Chaudhary, Deputy Fire Officer.
Honourable President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, ” Distressed by the tragic fire accident at a building near Mundka Metro Station in Delhi. My condolences to the bereaved families. I wish for a speedy recovery of the injured”.
Primi Minister also consoled the loss of lives in the massive fire by saying, ” Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to a tragic fire in Delhi. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
PM announced 2 lakh from Prime Minister’s National Fund Relief to the people who lost their lives and 50,000 to the injured families.
On preliminary enquiry, it has been learnt the building has been used for commercial office purposes, and around 50 people were stuck inside the building.
