Alibaba has expanded its recently launched “digital seaport” program that helps merchants sell goods across borders, Pandaily reported, citing Pingwest.
The company is making the program available to all trader merchants after being limited to its platform members.
The program offers cross-border logistics, payment collection, and international rules compliance services. The services are designed to help merchants retain stable operations and cope with pandemic-related risks.
Alibaba CEO Daniel Zhang Yong recently reassured employees that the company is “developing as a whole” despite lockdowns declared to contain the pandemic, according to a report by the South China Morning Post.
Southeast Asian e-commerce firm Lazada recently received US$378 million in additional funding from Alibaba, with the former issuing new shares to Alibaba Group’s Singapore-based entity.
