Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and actress Jerry Hall are getting divorced, US media reports.
The divorce would be the fourth for Mr Murdoch, 91. Ms Hall, 65, was previously married to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. Representatives for Mr Murdoch and Ms Hall, who married in a mansion in central London in 2016, have yet to comment.
According to the New York Times, their split comes as a surprise to those close to the family. That newspaper and the Washington Post cited anonymous sources with knowledge of the separation.
Mr Murdoch – whose News Corporation empire controls major outlets including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal in the US and The Sun and The Times in the UK – previously said he was giving more time to his new wife.
At the time of their marriage, the billionaire announced on Twitter that he was “the luckiest and happiest man in the world”, and would stop posting on the platform. In 2018, his eldest son Lachlan was named as his successor, with Mr Murdoch also selling most of 21st Century Fox to The Walt Disney Company.
The couple has also been publicly spotted together on several occasions. According to the New York Times, last year Ms Hall was seen “dotting” her partner at her 90th birthday party.
The Texan model-turned-actress was previously in a long-term relationship with Mr Jagger, with whom she had four children. The pair tied the knot in 1990 in a Hindu wedding ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. The marriage was annulled in the High Court of London less than a decade later.
Mr Murdoch was previously married to Australian flight attendant Patricia Booker from 1956 to 1967; Anna Mann, a Scottish-born journalist from 1967 to 1999; and Wendy Deng, a Chinese-born entrepreneur from 1999 to 2014.
In their marriages, the couple has 10 children.
