Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have married in Las Vegas, Ms Lopez has confirmed.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out that love is patient. Twenty years patient,” she wrote on her website.
The marriage took place 17 years after calling off their first engagement. The news of the couple getting back together last year sent fans into a spin, as they publicly displayed their on-again love affair on social media.
The Clark County Clerk’s office in Nevada—where Las Vegas is located—shows on its records system that Jennifer Lopez would change her name to Jennifer Affleck.
She wrote on her OntheJLo website that the couple went to Las Vegas on Saturday and stood in line for marriage licenses with four other couples.
“They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love,” she wrote.
“We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to.”
The pair met in 2002 on the set of the film Gigli and became engaged in 2003 but broke up the following year, blaming “excessive media attention”.
However, since getting back together, they have regularly posted photos and videos of romantic vacations and moments with their families online – prompting fans to reactivate the couple’s former portmanteau nickname Bennifer.
This is Lopez’s fourth marriage. She married singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, and they have twins.
Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018 and has three children.
