Leena Rafeeq, a self-taught coder based in Dubai who is only 11 years old, created an AI-based app called Ogler Eyescan.
The mobile app uses advanced computer vision and machine learning algorithms to detect various eye diseases and conditions through a unique scanning process. Ogler identifies the position of the eyes within the frame range by considering factors such as light and colour intensity, distance, and look-up points.
After establishing the quality of the scan, the app employs trained models to diagnose possible eye diseases or conditions, such as Arcus, Melanoma, Pterygium, and Cataract.
Leena created Ogler using the SwiftUI programming language without using any third-party libraries or packages.
She spent six months researching and developing the software.
Leena shared the news of her achievement on social media, which quickly went viral, and many users congratulated her.
A new approach to detect eye diseases.
The app has garnered attention for its innovative approach to detecting eye diseases.
Leena’s older sister Hana Rafeeq also became a headline maker a few years ago by becoming the youngest iOS developer to create an app.
Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Hana’s achievement, and now Leena has followed in her sister’s footsteps with the creation of Ogler Eyescan.
