Under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment, this summit aims to expedite comprehensive ocean action to protect and restore ocean ecosystems, combat climate change, and foster the sustainable development of blue economies.
Over the course of two days, the summit will focus on four key streams: Blue Economy, Blue Governance, Blue Science, and Blue Collective.
It will bring together a diverse array of stakeholders. Thus, including global leaders, policymakers, think tanks, research institutions, and the private sector.
This event serves as an important milestone leading up to COP28. Also, seeks to establish a framework for ocean action through panel discussions, thematic workshops.
And the creation of white papers documenting regional challenges, innovations, and opportunities.
On the second day (9 June 2023), the summit will offer an inclusive educational and awareness platform for the wider community.
Thus enabling discussions on ocean-related challenges and exploring creative solutions at both individual and community levels.
The MENA Oceans 2023 summit will feature presentations, panel discussions, fireside chats, and cover topics such as Ocean Action at COP28.
The Oceans 30×30 Agenda, regional conservation and restoration initiatives. Also helps in enhancing ocean biodiversity, sustainable tourism, and the relationship between oceans and food security.
